Dungarvan Under 18.5s brave fight against strong Clonmel side. 19-34

Dungarvan u18.5’s had there second outing in six days after a very entertaining encounter with a Waterford City/Carrick combination the previous week. Clonmel were the visitors to Ballyrandle on a fantastic day of Autumn, the visiting side with an Irish international & some members of the Rockwell collage Sct team were an impressive outfit.Dungarvan Captained by Eddie Phelan had a difficult first twenty as Clonmel’s accuracy and Dungarvan slight errors raced to a three try lead 0-15 to visitor’s, unfortunately an injury to a Clonmel player halted proceedings & gave coaches Cillian Corkery, Paul Carter & Mike Moore tome to reset the slow start, Dungarvan now got some phases together & went in halftime 0-15.
Second half saw Dungarvan put in a massive shift for the next 30 minutes, taking the lead with tries form Mark McCarthy who scorched down right wing after great forwad play from Patsy Coyne, Tadgh Foley, Con Williams, with a super cut out pas to Mark to
Score, 5-15.Edmund Spratt hit the crossbar with difficult conversion. Dungarvan now getting set piece functioning saw a lineout 5 meters from the Clonmel line & a great cut by Kevin
Connors scored a great try converted by Edmund Spratt 12-15 with 20 minutes to go. Clonmel brought on fresh legs & tried to go wide but a clever read from Mark McCarthy got an interception & an raced 50 meters between the posts converted by Edmund Spratt 19-15 with 10 to go, unfortunately injury & small panel took its toll , Clonmel scored a perfect, and with game nearly over tired bodies let the in for two tries, final score 19-34.A good outside with a few workons plus missing the injured Brayden Carter our third & final challenge before entering pan Munster is away to Youghal Wedding evening.
