Great win on the road for U16!
Our U16’s traveled to Fermoy for the 3rd round of the Pan Munster competition on Sunday. Dungarvan traveled with a 23 man squad in determined mood, the game started brightly for the away team, good interplay between forwards and backs saw Gabriel McGovern scorching in for a touchdown. This was soon followed by a clever intercept by Gabriel who scored again, both converted by Brayden Dee Carter. Fermoy replied using their big forwards to force a penaly which they converted. Dungarvan’s rush defence saw two turnovers being converted into
tries by Brayden. Dungarvan led 3-28 at half time. Dungarvan started the second half well with Seanie Flavin and Andy Whelan capitalising on handling errors to touch down for tries, Seanie then scored another, followed by Conor Davidson, picking & diving into the corner, three of the four were converted by Brayden. Dungarvan brought on eight replacements & Fermoy got rewards with two late tries, final score 13-54. Next up we host the strong league leaders Cobh Pirates at home on Saturday 2nd November Kickoff 1.30 pm.

U14’s take on Waterpark at Ballyrandle
Having started off the season last week with a victory over Carrick-on-Suir, our under 14s were brought back down to earth on Sunday, losing at home to a strong Waterpark side. Right from the kick-off it was evident that this was going to be an uphill battle for our guys. Waterpark didn’t afford us any space as they closed down attacks quickly. They dominated the possession and territory and their strong running and accurate passing was rewarded with some great tries. Dungarvan never gave up and as the game wore on they grew in confidence. Tackles were completed and turnovers were won by some dogged work on the ground by our forwards. The pressure finally paid off as Eoin Flavin scored a great try. However it only proved to be a consolation score as Waterpark took the victory on a score line of 71-5. This was a tough day at the office but, the boys can learn from this loss and take some of these lessons into
training. The experience of this Waterpark side (all of whom are on the age) showed from the first to the final whistle while the vast majority of our boys will still be playing U14 next year. Thanks to our supporters on the day, and a special word of thanks to the mums who fed and watered everyone after the match. We will refocus and build
on this experience as we look forward to playing Waterford City in three weeks time.
