Dungarvan Top of the Table!
After a two week break Dungarvan were back at home yesterday to take on table toppers Kanturk. Dungarvan played against a strong wind in the first half and were pinned in their 22 early in the game, however some great defensive work led to a turnover which was pounced on and a quick offload sent Lar Houlihan on a long run to the try line for a seven pointer. Dungarvan followed this up quickly with another great score from Maurice Daly after some good phase play. As conditions played their part and a dogged Kanturk got stuck in, the game became a battle with both teams having to put a serious amount of work into defence, but as Kanturk tried to exit their 22, great work from Dec Fennell on the deck earned a penalty in front of the sticks. Hickey knocked it over and Dungarvan were 17 nil up. Kanturk had the lions share of possession now but great defence from Dungarvan denied them a try but leaked two penalties. 17-6 at HT.

Dungarvan came out of the blocks and fought down field from the kickoff with Yogi having the final say of the move, Dungarvan now led 22-6. It came down to defence for the lads in blue for the last 20 minutes. After a bruising second half Dungarvan came out on top 22 points to 16. Dungarvan now sit top of the table. Next up is an away trip to Fermoy on Sunday. A big thanks all our supporters, great to see such a big crowd in Ballyrandle on a cold Sunday afternoon. Allez les Blues!

Big Blitz at Ballyrandle.
We hosted a Mini’s Blitz on Sunday for visiting clubs from Tipperary and Limerick, our visitors hailed from Clonmel, Carrick-on-Suir, Galbally and Clanwilliam. Over 200 children aged from 5-12 enjoyed 30+ games of rugby in a friendly non-competitive atmosphere – having great fun and getting very muddy to boot. The Blitz ran very smoothly as usual thanks to the preparation and planning by the Dungarvan Coaches ably led by Simon Stanley. Following the matches players and their families were treated to teas, coffees and assorted goodies. Thanks to all the parents who contributed to the feast and especially to the catering team led by Donna Dalton and Therese Casey.
